meet the tiongco family
Born and raised in Southern California (a.k.a. Sally from the Valley), I grew up eating my mother’s Vietnamese cooking everyday. This family tradition of eating at the dinner table with chopsticks, rice bowls, and a variety of Vietnamese dishes taught me about my rich culture and customs. When I met my husband Jonathan at UCLA, we made a pact: “Let’s not repeat any restaurants that we try.” After studying abroad in Madrid and experiencing college life at UCLA (rated as one of the top dining services in the nation by the way!), I continue to explore all kinds of food while still showing love to my roots (Vietnamese food is still my favorite!)
Passionate about educational reform in Los Angeles, I was a public school teacher in LA for nearly 10 years while my husband continues to work in the education profession. We truly love LA for its food, culture, diversity, and ongoing revitalization to be a great city for our children. LA is our home.
Residing in Downtown LA and the valley, we are proud parents of our two foodie kids, Madelyn June and Miles. I cook Vietnamese food at home, but Jonathan and I also expose our children to different restaurants in LA, with Asian cuisine as the favorite.
Since 2009, Six Taste has united thousands of people (mostly locals!) to explore Los Angeles on foot and enjoy the diverse food scene, up to 6 restaurants at a time. So, if you don't know where to eat in LA, follow us!
